Born in 1999, Matteo De Carlo has nurtured his passion for creation and experimentation since a young age, deeply imbued with the profound sense of "doing." With a clear vision of design, he stands out for his love of objects that are both practical and aesthetically distinct. Hailing from a rural region with a strong watchmaking tradition, Matteo immersed himself in the world of horology for four years, developing a passion for meticulous and high-quality work. This experience influenced his academic journey in watch design from 2019 to 2021, providing him with the skills to manage a project from start to finish. Currently, he continues his education in industrial design at the École cantonale des arts de Lausanne (ECAL). In his design philosophy, Matteo places great importance on functionality while recognizing that the way this function is expressed gives rise to unique and personal objects. He enjoys interpreting form according to his own design vision, merging it with his personal values such as material sustainability and ecological impact. Although awareness of waste management and the environment has become widespread, Matteo observes that waste persists in our society. Thus, he incorporates thoughtful consideration of the use of sustainable materials in his creations, contributing to shaping designs that reflect these characteristics and address contemporary challenges on his scale.
